NUDITY IN THE NAME OF PHOTOSHOOT

We have stooped to this level where we have to justify why a naked photoshoot of a famous celebrity is not vulgar. We are now also comparing the enlightened sages and monks to a commercial actor who has a very little idea of how his naked photos can impact the minds of children or make the ordinary women uncomfortable.

We are doing anything and everything under the garb of freedom of expression, right to portray art, or “progressiveness” as they call. Does modernization give a free pass to nudity? Is it that without the show of nudity our society is not moving forward? Are we now going to do anything that we wish for, under the garb of open mindedness? Does it mean that people who choose not to show their body parts or perform such publicity stunts are narrow minded people?

I am representing the voice of the middle class and upper middle middle women who find the nude photoshoot not just bogus and blatantly disrespectful but also vulgar that outrages her modesty. No one is snatching away the actor’s right to go naked or showcase soft porn but he might do so only on such porn websites and not publicly.

Bollywood has been attracting the youngsters since it began and it has changed the meaning of relationships, marriage, and adultery for common public. Unfortunately women are suffering because their promiscuous ways. After fighting for all other shit from the society, now we will also have to set our boundaries whether we should be following the Hindi film industry or not. Otherwise, at any point of time you will be trolled and bullied socially for standing for your right.

I personally feel that actors like Ranveer Singh who is known for his intense acting in films like Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Gully Boy etc should follow some ethics of the society and culture they are living and surely show some respect for kids and women’s. His act clearly shows that he doesn’t know that how famous he is in youngsters and he is having his followers in crores. As a women and as a responsible citizen of this country, we should not encourage such acts of nudity by listening to his ten people who are working on his payroll and shouting like hell to prove that he has done a great work by removing his clothes and putting it on social media for public view. This shows his narrow mind that he just wants public attention at any cost whether he is wearing lehengas or then going naked. This is purely his earning source and unfortunately people are comparing it with art. In my view there is no art done in the photoshoot, any Tom, Dick and Harry can shoot such pictures with the help of the editing software.

I believe if these photos are not outraging the modesty of ‘few’ women’s claiming it to be ‘hot’ and ‘freedom of expression’ then nothing in this world can outrage these women’s’ modesty.

Section 292 talks about the circumstances of such obscene behaviour- where the actor specifically “publicly exhibits or puts into circulation the representation or figure of obscene object and is engaged or is ready to engage in any act which is an offence under this section shall be punished”

Whereas the Section 509 of IPC talks about outraging the modesty of women- where the actor specifically “exhibits any object intending that such object shall be seen, by such woman, intrudes upon the privacy and modesty of such woman”

If it had been that the actor portrayed his so called art under private properties/websites, then today we would not be having a conversation of why modernisation doesnt imply nudity.

I am representing the million middle class Indian women who think this way. Let’s start asking the right questions instead of allowing obscenity under the garb of modernity. The phoshoot ashamed me and I went to police station to make my complaint against the same.

After lodging my complaint, I was expecting that voices will be raised against Mr Ranveer Singh but I found that the people who are mainly on social media and who are representing generation of modern India are bend behind me as if instead of Ranveer Singh I have done something which challenges the moral structure of our society. There are things that should be kept private and not for public display. By this blog, I would like to say that I am fighting for the cause of the women of India and I am not going to bow down. It’s for me, my mother, my sister, my daughters any women who feels that this is wrong and it outraged their modesty too.
